"HeritagForAll" initiative has the pleasure to inform you that we will organize, in collaboration with Administration of Archaeological Awareness – Ancient Egyptian Antiquities Sector (Ministry of Antiquities) and General Egyptian Book Organization (Ministry of Culture), a group of workshops under the title "Skills & Heritage". We cordially invite whoever is interested to obtain these heritage skills sites, to fill in this application (https://goo.gl/forms/mr7HxNj032S2FkyG3)

There are no registration fees.

 

We select only thirty participants for each workshop according to their motivation letter.

 

We grant each participant a permanent entrance permission for him/her and another one. 

 

Location: International Cairo Book Fair 2018 – Fairs Zone – The Main Building – Second Floor – Mohamed Abu el Magd Hall

First Workshop:  A Methodological Approach to Architectural Design: Applications on Museums, A Sustainable Museum Journey – Sunday 28 Jan. 2018

 

Tutor:  Arch. Hamdy el-Setouhy is a founder of the campaign "Abu Simbel 50". He is a council member of Society of Egyptian Architects (SEA). He is architectural consultant specializing in public buildings such as museums architecture as well as developing the heritage areas. In 1994, he had held B.Sc in architecture, faculty of fine arts, Helwan Uni. Moreover, he had held in 1996 a high school diploma in planning, faculty of engineering, Cairo Uni. At the same year, he had established “Oriental Group Architects” design office which was nominated for the Aga Khan award for architecture in 2008 about his project “the service center of the village of Sheikh Shazly”. Furthermore, he participates in exhibitions & competitions believing that “Architecture is a philosophy of expression, it is not only a matter of building” and aiming to fulfill his belief in his designs.

Second Workshop: Heritage as the Source of Learning – Monday 29 Jan. 2018

Tutor: Ms. Fatma Abd el Aziz -  Director of Museum Affair at Children Civilization and Creativity Center (Child Museum); Ph.D. Candidate in Heritage and Museum Studies at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, Helwan University; Master in museum`s studies Helwan University “Educational Standard for Egyptian Museums”.

Content:
Egypt is one of the richest countries in terms of heritage and monuments, how we can utilize this as a primary source of learning various sciences.

By the end of the module, participants will be able to:

Third Workshop: Interactive Activities as a Tool to Increase Cultural Heritage Awareness of School Children – Tuesday 30 Jan. 2018

 

Tutor: Ms. Gehan Nabil Zaki - Academic Coordinator of M.A. program in Cultural Heritage Management at the Université Française d’Egypte. She has an extensive background in heritage storytelling via holding the joint M.A. in Cultural Heritage Management between the Université Française d’Egypte and University of Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne. Currently, she is a researcher in cultural heritage management and freelance storyteller as well as a Ph.D. Candidate in Heritage and Museum Studies at Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, Helwan University.

Fourth Workshop: How to Raise the Financial Resources of the Heritage Site or Museums? – Wednesday 31 Jan. 2018

Tutor: Mr. Khaled Maher - Ph.D. Candidate in Heritage and Museum Studies at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management- Helwan University; M.A. in Museum Studies from the former entity. He has a wide experience in the field of managing the financial resources.
